[Part of it is that he figures the Fog God is old enough that she thinks they're all babies. Why distinguish between a few years when for her a few years means nothing? They'd be fighting an uphill battle to even try and explain to her that there is a difference in the first place.

By some miracle he manages not to forget by Tuesday. The miracle is that he was smart enough to write it down. Normally for this sort of thing he'd bring alcohol, but she's a little young for that so instead he's got a fresh jug of sweet tea. It's a jug that may have at one point contained alcohol but that's besides the point. That's summery, right?]

Thank goodness for that. It's no fun bein' a cold-blooded critter any other time of year.

Take your time finishin' up, I'm not in any rush.

[ Never ask the Fog God why she is like this. It won't possibly end well. Honestly it's much easier to try and figure out what the hell all this other stuff is about.


Actually don't give that to Annie. She would be tempted. ]

I wonder. [ Annie tilts her head thoughtfully then frowns a bit. ] I guess heated blankets are a medical need.

[ She turns back to her employee and just gives her a few final instructions. Annie seems satisfied with the responses given to her, so she picks up the picnic basket with one of her pincers and with a clawed hand grabs the picnic blanket to drape over her other arm. She seems to have it all figured out. ]

I'm just getting used to having an employee. She's great though. I just hate popping in and out of the kitchen area. I prefer to focus just on the baking side of things as much as possible.

Oh, sure. That's me with the workshop. Bringin' on Larry and Marco to handle the software side of things was the smartest decision I ever made.

[Mainly Larry. Larry Laffer could program an entire OS in an afternoon, and he's exponentially improved that division of the Labs' output.]

Tryin' to do everything all at once is no good no matter where you are. Havin' extra hands around means you have time to go out on picnics. Where are we off to, one of the parks?

I might hire someone else if we get new people. I don't want to like, tire myself out.

[ She also thinks building their community in a healthy way is important. She has noticed a few issues with folks isolating themselves. It's not great. ]

Yeah. I would say let's go to the Lake but that's a bit of a walk for right now. One of the parks near here is pretty perfect for everything. They just added a gazebo.

[ She feels better already. Honestly, she should invite more people out for lunch. ]

[Yeah. She should. Fiddleford is already thinking the same thing. It's nice to recapture a little of the dogged optimism he used to have. When exactly did he exchange that for bone-tired pragmatism? Hard to say. Probably around the time the optimism started feeling hollow and disingenuous. And sure, it feels a little hollow and disingenuous now to put on a happy face like his mental health didn't take a flaming tailspin right into the ground last month. It's fine. Holing himself up and ruminating won't help and neither will working himself to the bone so this is all he's got in terms of options.]

How big is it, because between the two of us we're probably goin' to take up the whole thing.

Not that I imagine anybody'd want to argue with a snake and a scorpion about where they're sittin'.

Honestly I think it looked to be about twenty-five feet across? I didn't watch the whole build. People get nervous if I stop and stare.

[ She huffs slightly because seriously she doesn't just run loose murdering people! Only once in a while and they must be terrible. ]

I've got to consider spaces given I'm a pretty sizeable lady. [ Height wise? Annie is only a petite thing on her "human" side, reaching a five feet even it is when her tail which when it's fully raised goes up almost two feet higher that getting into smaller spaces gets annoying. This is exactly why she won't talk about her own personal issues getting in and out of places.

She figures Fiddleford already gets it, no reason to complain. ]

I just tend to like the gardens out in that park. I've always had an interest in flowers but like, zero talent in growing them.

[Oh, yeah. He gets it. It's a whole production every time he wants to go through a door considering there's so much of him, horizontally speaking. He gets it.]

If you ever want pointers I'm not a bad gardener. I like vegetables better'n flowers but the main idea's the same.

I wouldn't mind. I'm thinking of having my whole house moved. Getting started on a garden for the summer might be a good idea.

[ As they approach the park Annie is taking in what's going on. It looks mostly safe. She leans towards paranoid after all the weird stuff she has seen so far. When things look still at least it's easy to chill out.


To her the park looks perfect right now. ]

It looks like others are out having fun too. Shouldn't be too busy though.
